I have been contacted by our local Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB), asking for support in seeking assurances from the Government that means tested benefits and tax credit take-up targets are met.

Many people are unaware of their entitlement and result in losing out what is rightfully theirs to claim. It is estimated that up to £10.5 billion of benefits and £5.8 billion in tax credits remain unpaid.

The CAB provides an invaluable service to all and I will be writing on their behalf to ministers asking them to set ambitious take-up targets for both benefits and tax credits, which is an important step towards tackling child poverty.
